Case of the Mondays

|

Yep. It's official I have a case of the Mondays. I guess it doesn't help that I didn't get to bed unitl 1:30 oar so last night and then got up at 7 to head off to work. I think the minimum sleep that I need is 6 hours. Anything under and I am a walking zombie. That's exactly how I feel, I am a walking zombie. The weekend seemed to fly by. Went back home for the weekend for Michelle's cousin first communion. I spelled that completely wrong. My parents ame to pick us up on Friday afternoo. After road construction and slow traffic we got home around 7. I spent the majority of the night stripping down my old computer and getting things working again because Michelle's parents get the computer. I turned it on and it started making a some funky noises. I thought it was the harddrive but ended up being the CD drive, so I had to crack open the case and switch out CD drive. I got everything else working and all by Saturday afternoon when we took it over to their house.
Saturday and Sunday seemed to fly by. I don't remember what I did Saturday. On Sunday I got ont he Greyhound around 6:30pm and got off of it at 11:38pm. As I was getting my luggage from the bus, a guy there was saying that his stuff wasn't on there. I don't remember if he got on the bus in St. Paul, but the bus driver asked him if he had 2 bags. Ended up that the bags were by the bus and didn't have any tags on them, so before the bus left (where ever he got on) the driver held the bags up asking whose bags they were. The guy didn't hear it, so the bags didn't get on the bus. That would suck. I would be pissed off, 'cause there is no easy way to get your bags to you without having someone mail them to you and that would cost a mint. Oh yeah. I found something to give me a laugh this morning, so I guess it hasn't been too bad yet. I have no clue how the people at work find some of these sites, but I spent 10 minutes laughing. Here the site, its call Furniture Porn. I would definately check it out.

Another day at the office

|

Here at work. Being bored. I've update the Garage for the next week releases. I have stuff that I could do but I don't know what I want to do. I need to get the past releases on a page so I have all the disc infos, so people can reference them even if I do not have a review for it. I'm have been toying with the idea of trying to come up with somehting that will automatically create the page. I have the idea in my head but I don't have a way to implement it. I think it would be similar to how this journal thing works. I would give it an HTML template, but it would search a given directory and put links on the template page. Sounds easy enough, but I don't have the programming skills, and I'm thinking that just creating the webpage and keeping it up to date would be easier to do.
Change subjects, I got my Real Estate exam back yesterday. The TA siad that the scores on the written part were real bad. We ended spending three fourths the class time going over the problems. When he handed the exams back, I found out that I got 38.5 on the written part, which was out of 66. I got a total score of 161.5 out of a possible 200. The prof says that he doesn't curve the class, but the average of the exam was a lot lower than he expected. So I'm not sure if he is going to change his curve or not. If it stays where it is. I'm getting an AB, but if I miss more than 28 points on the final, I'm going to drop down to a B. A B is fine with me, but it's a real straight forward class so I was hoping to do bettter.

Home Shopping Network Purchase

|

Yes that is correct. I made a purchase from the Home Shopping Network. Don't worry, it wasn't for a piece of crappy electronics or jewelry. It was a DVD. It was like pulling teeth ordering from them though. I found a coupon online that was $25 off a single item. I found a DVD that I had been wanting for awhile (Lock Stock and 2 Smoking Barrels). The online store would not take the coupon so I ended up having to call the customer service so I could place my order with the coupon. I read on DVDTalk that you had to call to get the coupon to work. I told the nice customer service lady what item number, the coupon code and my billing stuff. She told me that she didn't think it would work because the DVD was only $19.99. I read online that if the item was under $25, the item would be free, but you would forfeit the rest of the $25. I explained that to her, so she put me on hold to check on that. After about 10 minutes on hold, she comes back and says ok. Your order is placed and there is not charge. Hot Damn!! I was expecting to pay $4.95 shipping, but I'm not gonna complain about a completely free DVD. So that was my Home Shopping Network experience. Now I just have to wiat 10 days to get the DVD.
I took my last midterm last night. I'm not sure how it went. The multiple choice problems were fairly easy and straight forward, but the written short answer was any but that. The short answer were calculations, but instead of asking us easy questions, he lumped together a bunch of things. I remember doing similar things on the homework assignments, but in the homeworks never did they ask anything as complicated. Yes, I'm making up excuses for not knowing the material. I'll be interested to see how the test comes out and what the TA says about the written part of the exam. There weren't any problems on the homeworks similar to the question, so I was doing what made sense to me to do. I was a little worried when I was taking the test, but I figured that there was nothing I could do about it now. I know that I can miss up to 50 points on the tests and homeworks before I drop down to an AB, and I've only missed around 23. I do have a cushion, but I'd really like to get an A in the class.
I had my plans for last evening all set in my head yesterday morning. I was going to finish my test and then go home and watch Terminator 2: Judgement Day. As usual this didn't work out completely due to inability to stick to a plan. I finished my exam and was starving so michelle and I went and got pizza from Rocco's which was around 8:30. We got home around 9:15 but didn't put in the movie because we were sucked in to watching Dateline or some news show about Spring Break. Michelle left at 10:30 or so, and I decided that I would watch a bit of T2 before I went to bed. That bit, ended up being half of the movie. I was watching the extended special edition of the movie which runs for 2 and a half hours. So I'm gonna end up watching the rest of it today after class.

Passed the test

|

I got the score of econ test back. I got an 81 on it and that comes out to be a B with the curve. Unfortunately, they did not include the curve in the posting. The TA just had the raw number score and a letter grade. So I don't have any idea if it's a high or low B. The last exam I got a high C so I don't really know where I'm sitting in the class. I'm assuming I'm right at a BC which is fine with me. Well, being a dork I am. I just cut and pasted the results in Excel to try to get the grading curve. Looks like an 82 was an AB so I got a high B! That's good because I didn't do as well on the first exam. I just have to say ontop of things for the last month here and I'll be able to pull off a B maybe.
I have my last midterm tonight. I'm looking forward to this very much. I've hated having one midterm after another because I don't have any chill time. I think it may be good though since I'm not wasting any time just sitting around watching TV. I've been productive most of the time. Last night I went up to College Library to study since I know I wouldn't get anything done at home, but it ended up being hotter in the library than it was outside. So I headed to the business library in Grainger, and it must have had the air on or the building just has fantastic circulation. It was cool and I was able to get a hour or two of studying done before I had a calling to Q'doba for dinner. I headed back to my apartmetn with Michelle and I studied some more until the Osbournes came on and I was done for the night. I'm gonna study a bit today still beause I don't think I have the material down as well as I should. Since the first midterm was based on the practice exams he sent out, I've found it hard to focus on anything but that. I have the practice exams down, but I still need to look over some calculations for the written part of the test.

The Church

|

I was watching the Today show this morning when I woke up and caught an interview with a priest in the the Catholic Church. I'm not sure who he was but I believe he was a higher up in the Chicago area. It seemed that he was the first person from within the Catholic church to address some of the issues that I've been thinking about. I 've seen on the news that people are saying that if the priests were not celebate that there would be less child abuse cases. The priest on the TV said what I've been thinking a long time, a priest who abuses children will do so if he is married or not. People are making it sound like priests have this pent up sexual energy and they take it out on children. I do not think that pedophelia is related to the lack of marriage and intimacy. He did say that he thought that priests should be able to marry, but for the reason to try to cut down the cases of abuse. I wish more people had the same insights as this priest.
Changing subjects completely. I've registered for my last semester of classes. I'm taking 2 econ classes, a history class, and bowling! I'm real excited about the bowling class. I don't know why, but I must be a loser or something. I had to take it because I had only 11 credits and to be considered a full time student I have to be enrolled for 12 credits. The bowling class doesn't count towards any credits, but I didn't need it. I hope it's as fun as I'm thinking it will be. I also spent the whole weekend at the library. This past weekend has to the be the most time that I've spent at the library actually studying. I've gone to the library before and wasted 3 or 4 hours, but I studied for majority of the time. On Saturday, I think I spent six or seven hours at the library, just reading. On Sunday, I read for another four hours or so and worked on a practice exam. I have been studying for my Real Estate exam. If the second test is anything like the first I feel that once I go over the practice exam a couple times, I'll have a good grasp on the material.
The weather has be great for the past couple days. On Sunday I studied outside for a bit, until it got overcast and chilly. Today, it's supposed to hit 82 and the same tomorrow. No rain is forecasted until Wednesday, and then the temp drops to 70 and it's only down hill from there with a high of 59 later this week. I guess I'll have to wait a bit long for sustained warmth.

I’m going Crazy

|

I think I can say that I'm going crazy. Yesterday, I spent 2 and hlaf hours at work working on DVD Garage and I thought that I didn't upload it to the server. So I spend half the night being pissed off about that. Before I went to be last night, I logged onto the server and redo some of that stuff. That's when I realized that I had uploaded the site, but I uploaded it to the wrong folder. I fixed the mistake and went to bed. I wake up this morning to get an email from Michelle saying that she had beat the expert level in Minesweeper. I started playing it a week ago. I beat the Beginner and Intermediate, but I couldn't get any lower than 30 mines (out of 99). Of course, she plays it for a couple days and beats it. Guess I'll just have to beat her time of 969.

Finally, Official Open

|

Alright. It's finally done. I have finally launched the DVD Garage. I changed and setup the DNS stuff so people could type in DVDGarage.com and get to the site, but there hadn't been much there. Now I have a review of the Usual Suspects up, but it is not completed. I watched the movie last night, but didn't look at any of the special features yet. I'm not sure how I'm gonna evaluate them. The thing that is time consuming would be the commentaries, since there are 2 different ones. I'll probably just start somewhere and listen for 10 or 20 minutes. I can't see sitting through the entire movie listening to the music director/composer talk about the music. But I'm excited that everything is up and working. I guess that I'll have to study for my test now since I have actually worked on something for the first 2.5 hours of my shift.

Another day of studying

|

I love school, have I mentioned that. I don't know if having midterms spread out is as good as I thought it was. I'm tired of having something to do for each of the past weeks and with expectations of more to come. I think now that I would rather have them done and over with so I have a little time to relax. I just finished another night of studying. Ok maybe I shouldn't say a night of studying, considering I stopped at 9 to watch tv for the rest of the night. I guess I do have my relax time while I'm studying.
Other news, I did get Dvd Garage online. I haven't done any reviews yet, but I have updated the new dvds. I even got a week ahead, so I'll just try to stay on top of that and keep them uptodate. I also have to start writing reviews of the DVDs I see.

Finally finished, for now

|

You all are probably curious why the hell it's been so long since I've done anything to this site. There are two reasons for this. The first and foremost is that I'm in the middle of studying for midterms. I had one test last week, one this, and one next week. I also have a group project that is due the last week in April which no one has talked about yet. That really doesn't bother me, because the later it gets the lower the stress level I have is. It seems that as long as I have only one thing going on at a time I deal better with stress. If I two or three things due I go crazy. The next reason why I haven't done anything to this site is because I have!! Doesn't make sense huh?? It does to me. I installed this program Moveable Type which is supposed to make entries easier to enter. I must say that once I get everything how I want it to look, it will make things a lot easier. I've spent a bunch of time trying to figure out how to get things to look like my old page. I found it out and I'm pretty happy with the outcome of it. I think I may still do a little tweaking, but for the most part I'm happy with how it looks. If you look on the left there is a link to the archived journal entries. I haven't changed the style on those, and I don't know if I will since I highly doubt anyone will go back and read them. I might make that change later on. I registered for summer classes last week. I don't know how this summer is going to go with classes. I'm taking two 100 level classes because I need the credits and they are only 4 week sessions, so they are going to be 2 hours of class a day each. The are not during the same time though, one is May 28 through June 15 and the other runs from June 17 to middle of July. I'm also taking an 8 week class from June 17 until August sometime. It's intro to social psychology. Psych seems to be something that always interests me, but I've only taken on other class. I've picked out my classes for the fall after a little freakout. I was looking for calsses and they were already full or they weren't offered. That passes when I realized I was looking at the wrong term, so I looked at the correct term and it all worked out. I'm gonna take Money and Banking, Economies of Scale, and US History since WWII. I might take Bowling also if the history class is only 3 credits. I don't know if it is, because in the timetable the department says undergrads register for 3 credits with an option 4th credit and to look at some website to find out about the fourth credit, but I could not find the website for the life of me. So I'll just register for bowling, just in case things don't work out with the history class. Wow. My hands are tired from typing. So that is what's been up with me.
