It’s been awhile

|

I just realized that it has been awhile since I made an entry into the site. I haven't been doing much. Started my new psych classes. I switched out of the food science class since they wanted to charge me $450 more for it. I signed up to take a psych class about personality with michelle. I've just been reading and chilling. Trying not to do too much. Ain't got much else to say except I'm hot and tired. I'm looking forward to going over to Michelle's for a bit tonight. I get off of work at 4 and I'm gonna head over there and make a pizza and drink some beer. That's my evening cause I don't have class tomorrow, so today is like a Friday to me.
I just looked at my grade for my old class. I got a B in it. It raised my overall GPA by an entire 1 /1000 of a point. I'm surprised that the grade was there. I took the final less than a week ago and it was a written final and he had to grade about 75 of them. He must have rushed to get get things done. The two classes I'm taking now are Social Psych and Psychology of Personality. Both classes are interesting to me. I didn't have either today because my Social Psych teacher was sick, unfortunately I didn't know that unitl I showed up for class at 11:30. I guess it's good cause I went home and read for my other class. The Personality class is real interesting. We are going over Freud currently and I've always been fascinated with psych stuff. Michelle doesn't like the classs, but I like it. The professor seems kind of odd. I don't know what it is, but she doesn't seem to be all there. The lectures for both classes are only an hour and fifteen minutes long 4 days a week. So it's not as bad as the two and a half everyday.
I've gone on an Ebay binge last week. I bought a new network card since I busted my old one. I also bought some extension cables for my Dreamcast controllers. I couldn't sit on the futon and play Dreamcast without moving the Dreamcast to the floor. I'm lazy I know. The network card I got is a 3com card with the cool Xjack. There is no dongle and no large piece held on the card, so I can keep it in the cardbus slot and the connection thing pops out when I need it. I won't need it much since, the new apartment has the wireless network. I still need to plug in at my old apartment.

What a fun day.

Wow. I have done nothing today. I woke up at 8:50 with intentions of taking a shower, but I ended up writing a one page paper to turn in at 10. There's more a story there, but I'm not gonna tell it. Lecture only ran until 12 or so. So I went home and had a little food and then I came to work. I have just sat here surfing the web. Tonight I'm gonna study for my final in my class. I don't know how much I'm gonna study but it probably won't be that much at all.
Last night was more of an experience at work. There was this guy who came in asking if we had a color printer. He later came up and said that he sent a print job. So the guy I work with started the process to print the page. The printer itself takes 3 or 4 minutes to warm up before it even starts receiving the page to print. The guy printing was impatient and asking why it takes so long. He started talking saying how his friends told him that he couldn't print off a fake looking ID. He was just here to prove his friends wrong. (I didn't believe it, but I didn't think he'd be able to do it so I let it pass). So the printer went through its thing and started receiving the file. The guy was again freaking because it was taking so long. I thought that it was taking awhile too, so I looked to see how big it was. The file was 29 megs so I told him that the file would take a long time. Needless to say the printer here sucks and I had to reset it and the guy had to send the print job again. The printer had to go back through the warm up phase (with the guy pacing around). Then it printed out and I thought he was done. But no, he wanted toprint on glossy paper and on both sides. The guy I work with told him that he would have to do some special alignment so it would print on the back. The guy went back to his computer and half an hour later came up with his paper saying ti was all setup correctly. Needless to say, when he printed the front and the back did not line up because the guy hadn't changed any of the alignment. He got pissed off because he had wasted his single sheet of glossy paper and couldn't salvage his fake id. That was only one thing that happened.
The next thing was there ws this guy wanting to make some graphs in Excel. I've become pretty good at graphs in Excel so I was the one to help him. He kept aksing me to do the stuff, as I'm telling him what he has to do. He won't leave me alone. I'll tell him how to do one thing and 3 minutes later he is asking another question. So I give up, and just start doing the stuff to get it done. It wouldn't have taken long, but I'd do something and then he change his mind. So this was another half hour, but he was done and left.
So I guess last night was a busy night at work for once. Unfortunately they it was also a pain since the people weren't the greatest to deal with. Oh well, that's a night at the DoIT InfoLab.

More fun at work

|

It's a great shift at work. Another long 8 hour shift. 4-Midnight. I think this is gonna suck. I keep thinking that things would get better but it's not. I have a couple movies with me tonight though. I watched/listened to the commentary on the UHF DVD that I got the other day. It's kinda freaky cause Weird Al must have went back and researched for the commentary. He was spitting out addresses of locations and other movies a particular character was in. Very odd. So it was a real interesting commentary because there was a ton of information. Then I switched to the Traffic commentary and that is very opposite. The discussions on the Traffic disc or more focused on the film making. So both were interesting, each in their way.
I finished all my programs. I bailed out on the GUI because I realized that I run into problems when I want to put the files on a web server. If I run the program on my computer I still have to upload all webpages it creates. If I don't have a GUI I can just log into my brothers computer and run program and be done. With some tweaking (probably major revisions), I could get this to work but I don't want to put any more time in it. I'm just lazy I guess.

My head hurts!!

|

I've been thinking too much tonight. I've just spent the last 2 hours, or since my last entry, programming. I thought it would be a quick program but it's a little more thinking than I want. As usual I think of something simple to do, but I end up thinking of all this stuff that I want to add to the program. I guess I'll have to live with this flaw in my personality. Simple ideas end up being complex problems. Atleast I know when I go home I can relax. I'm going to make some left over pizza and put UHF into my computer and watch a bit until I fall asleep.
I never realized how much TV I watched until now. I took my TV and everything else in my entertainment center over to the new apartment. I can't stand being in my room now. All I have is my computer to play DVDs and I only have Traffic: Criterion Collection and UHF. If I want to play CDs, I have my alarm clock but all my CDs are at the new apartment. I have 6 gigs of Mp3's on my computer but the speakers on my computer suck. So I'm stuck watching DVDs on my computer that sits on top of a plastic crate where my entertainment center used to be. Well, work is coming to an end, I'm gonna pack up.

Productive evening

|

Wow. I've had a very productive evening at work. I've done almost everything I was planning to do except one thing I just remembered now. (I need to find a second job). My boss wasn't at work today so I was able to get my reading done by 8. I then spent a couple hours working on my java program. I got that working and finished. I just need to rewrite the one that created the index pages. That shouldn't take as long.
I have been contemplating religous issues lately. I've come to ponder these becuase of my class. The class I'm in is Great Scientists, so it doesn't directly relate to religion, but there are religious implications of the scientists were are studying so that's what has fueled the fire. Just got me thinking about science and the conflict with Christianity. I haven't been to church in awhile. I'm not sure what to believe. I have a hard time believing in the bible. There is no evidence that any of it took place. I do think there is a higher being, but I'm not sure about the role that it plays in day to day life. It's very odd, I haven't thought about these things in a long time, but now I think about it daily because my class.
