The classes are done with. All I have to do now is worry about the finals that I have to take. I have my English final tomorrow and then I have a break of 5 days before my last two finals on next Wednesday. I'm glad I have that time to study for astronomy and for math. It feels so good to finally be done with classes. It's hard to believe that I have been here for an entire semister. The time seems to fly by, but it seems like I've been away from my friends and family for such a long time. I look forward to seeing them over break. Another thing that I'm going to enjoy is not having to do any type of school work over break. That is going to be nice to be able to start new when I get back to school. I didn't have any trouble getting into the classe that I wanted. I know a lot of people didn't get what they wanted or their schedules were tied up in required classes. I guess those AP creidts paid off more than I thought they would. I got to register a week before the other freshman because I have enough credits to be considered a sophomore.
I don't know what else there is to say except I'm so excited about going home!. That is all that is on my mind for the past week is getting finals done and getting home. It is going to be a nice break. Just being able to sit back and relax. Don't have anything too important to worory about. That is going to be nice.
Life: December 1999 Archives
What fun this day is. The work force. I'm so glad to be part of it. I have not accomplished anything today at work I tried to look at some programming stuff but it isn't wrking so instead of getting all frustrated so I just stopped. Now I'm just going to update my journal. I don't have much to say today except that I got 11 hours of sleep last night. I'm not sure why I slept so much. But it felt good to wake up this morning. I think I might have just been catching up on all the sleep that I have been missing since I started school.
Christamas break is coming up soon. I'm looking forward to that break a lot. I'm going to have a month to spend with my girlfriend and family. That is going to be real nice. I actually get to have good meals. The food at the cafeteria here is ok, but it doesn't come close to a home cooked meal. Not having to worry about any tests or assignments is nice also. To sum up what my vacation from school, it is going to be relaxing and sleeping and eating. Of course before the break starts I have four exams and one project due. I have my first exam tomorrow night. So that will cut down the exams to three the last week of school. The project I should get started on, but I'm going to wait until I get the first exam out of the way. I hope to spend a good part on Friday doing it. Of course I've said things like that before and never got started on it, BUT this time is different. I will get it done earlier than the Thursday before it's due. The project seems easier than the last. I'll probably run into to more problems than I think. The biggest part of the project is the manupulation of input/output rather than making class. I should be able to do this. I hope so at least.
College life loneliness. Many may think, "College is the time when I met my real friends that I still know." For me, I have already met that friend of mine that I will know forever. The big problem is that she is about 5 hours away. Yep, I'm talking about my girlfriend who I've been with for four years. I have yet to run into any one who doesn't gasp in amazement when I tell them how long I've been with her. I must say it's been great a great four years and I surely look forward to many more with my girl.
The fun stuff today is....nothing. Haven't got much to do here today. I'm just taking some of the older entries and putting them on their own pages. I'm just putting each month with its own page. Fun stuff. Didn't have much time for fun yesterday, I spent the evening doing homework and staying caught up in my classes. (I'll warn you that the rest of this paragraph is going to be tech the tech geek in me) I got Perl working on my computer at the dorm. All that means is that I can get Perl cgi in my webpages. All I have to do now is to get the knowledge of perl so I can write the programs. I have found a couple helpful sites so I'm slowly piecing together the ideas. One problem is that in my comp sci class I'm learning Java and some of the two languages are similar but other parts are totally different. I've run into a couple confusing when going through the tutorials and all for perl. But I'm sure I'll figure it out soon enough.
Ok, I got the tech geek out of me. Aren't you glad I got that out of my system. I must say that I have noticed a full 180º turn around on technology. Any one who new me before I left for college would hear me talking about how I was the normal one in my family. I was the one who lived, breathed, and ate technology. I think this turn around happened over the summer when I went to training for my current job. After I had come back from the training I had a great interest in computers and how they work. I guess that makes things a lot better for me now. I didn't know what I wanted to do with my life until I took up this interest. The only down side is that I want to learn as much as I can but I'm so impatient. I just want to read something and understand it and move on to the next thing. Everyone who knows me is probably laughing at that because they could attest to the impatience of me. I don't have to go into this more because I have already covered impatience of me before in my journal. Hope this is enough for everyone to get through until the next entry.
It's been a while. The only excuse I have is that I'm lazy. Not that this requires a lot of effort but it requires thought. That is something that I try not to do unless absolutely needed. The college life is going well. I found out last night that I missed only one point on my big Comp Sci project. The calculus exam that I took a week ago, I got a B on. So everything is going good for me. The next big test is a comp sci quiz and exam next week.I also have an astronomy project that I need to figure out what I'm gonna do. I'll just have to talk with some kids in the class to see what they are doing for the project. I just have to track the movement of the sun over a month. I just need to make a picture showing where it sets. Nothing big.
Thanksgiving break was great. I got to spend time with my girlfriend and family. Plus I got two meal of TURKEY. I would have to say that spending time with my girl was the best part of the vacation. The days seemed to pass so quick. It seemed like I was home for a day when I was packing up to leave. I did a whole lot that weekend. My girlfriend and I went to downtown Minneapolis to watch her brother play basketball at the Target Center. Afterwards we went to Dayton's and went through the walkthrough, which wasn't that great. At 6:30, we stood outside in the cold for a half hour watching the Holidazzle parade. That was cool, but I was freezing. It was fun cause I got to have my arms around my girlfriend the whole time.
Well, I've run out of things to say. E-mail me if you want to know more about something.
