Dogs eat everything

|

Well today's realization came in the form of my dog. Dogs aren't bright. Everyone I have talked to about my dog has similar dog stories, so I've deemed this not dork. I got up this morning as usual and went downstairs to let Anabelle the beagle out. I noticed that there was this pink lump of stuff on her bed. I thought that this was a corn starch bone we gave her last night. I gave her some food and then I notice a general bad smell in the air. It was the smell of puke. So I go and investigate the pink lump and realize that it is the corn starch bone, except its in the tiny pieces. I assume that the bone just didn't agree with her during the night so no problem. I proceed to take her outside and she does her duties. We come inside and I get my breakfast. Just as I'm sitting down I start hearing the sound of a dog getting sick. I look up and see Anabelle by the door displaying her breakfast on the floor. My first reaction is to yell and I get the sad unhappy puppy eyes from Anabelle. I immediately feel bad for yelling. I shoo the dog to the kitchen and put up the baby gate so I can get the mess cleaned up in the living room. I get it cleaned up and start thinking that this must be a larger issue with Anabelle. Just as I finished cleaning the living room I hear her in the kitchen expelling what is left in her tummy which is just water. I'm a little worried but not too bad since I figured it must be the bone we gave her last night. My wife stayed at home a little later to make sure that the dog is fine.
I come home everyday for lunch since I work close to home. When I arrive home I let the dog out of her kennel and notice the bed she was laying in had a corner of it pulled up. This usually means that she has either peed, pooped, or puked and was trying to cover it up. I think to myself, "There can't be anything there, she hurled everything up this morining." I move the pillow and look into her bed to see a black piece of fabric laying there. I continue to look at it trying to figure out what it is. I get some paper towels to pick up the mess and I realize that it is a black sock. My wife has very thin black socks and this is what Anabelle ate. I have no idea when she ate it but all I can figure is that is must have been the previous night since she's been hurling ever since. I got the mess cleaned up and gave her a little food. For the 20 minutes I was home she kept the food down.
I came home from work half expecting the worse. If she had puked it means that there is a larger issue and she needs to get to the vet quickly. I open Anabelle's kennel and out comes the beagle jumping and prancing. I know this is a good sign. I give her some more food and it's gone in a matter of minutes. Anabelle has been running around and prancing for most the night. All is well with her tummy. That's a good thing.
Having a stupid dog that eats everything is a non dork event.

Watching sports

|

Yesterday was Easter and it is always entertaining seeing how different families spend the time together. More specifically what they watch. Growing up in my family there never was a great interest in sports. My interest in sports is baseball and a little football. March madness has only taken me in because of betting pools. I did not find a pool this year so I haven't watch many of the games, but I have kept up with the final scores.
At my parents house we watched whatever movies that were on during the day. This happened to be Saving Silverman, and I must say that I was amazed with what Comedy Central did not edit out. Maybe I was surprised because it was Easter and I was assuming that they would tone it down some. But then again for all those who don't participate in the Easter holiday why do they have to suffer with boring TV. There seemed to be a lot of Jesus and God movies on too but my family stayed clear of those.
At the in-law grandparents we ended up watching the Wisconsing basketball game. I keep an eye on Wisconsin sports since I went college there, but I couldn't name a single player on their football or basketball team. Unfortunately, Wisconsin lost the game. The play was very slopping on their part so it wasn't that hard of a loss to watch. They also were playing the number one seeded team that has been projected to take the entire tournament.
So count Easter day as a non dork event.
